When Jesus was a young boy,WHY did the Romans soldiers killed innocent childrens during the Performance show?
Hi in Christmas Eve, I was watching a foreign Jesus movie when Jesus he was brought to a performance show buy his mother & during the performance show, the Romans soldiers they march arena & they attack young children’s. Could anyone explain to me why the Romans did that? And yes young jesus he got away with those Romans monsters. Thank you.
P.S. I’m Catholic.
The second chapter of the Gospel of Matthew tells the story of King Herod trying to kill the newborn "King of the Jews" by ordering the massacre of all boys two years old and younger in the Bethlehem area. That story, often referred to as "the Slaughter of the Innocents," was probably the inspiration for the movie scene you saw.
What is the history of the Baptist denomination in Christianity?
I’m Baptist and I understand the ideas and practices of a Baptist, but how did it start? Like Lutheran was the first Protestant denomination after Martin Luther broke from the Catholic Church. Any serious answers are thanked for in advance.
They came from the Church of England in the 1600s. A man named John Smyth broke away because he didn’t believe in infant baptism. They were originally called Separatists. After some of them came to the New World, their beliefs got intermingled with the Anabaptists to give us what we know today as the Baptist church.
Considering that time in history, the first Baptists were heavily influenced by the teachings of John Calvin and Menno Simons.
Where can I buy my hairdresser a gift card that benefits a charity she supports?
I don’t really want to buy her items with the charity logo all over it, and I think a gift card would be perfect. I just can’t seem to find any sites that sell gift cards where some of the proceeds go towards a charity.
www.thehungersite.com
they sell really nice items at all prices, fast delivery, AND they come with a certificate stating, "A donation of x# cups of rice has been made through the purchase of this gift."
At the same site, you can follow the links on the tabs to charities that support animals, rainforests, and breast cancer prevention and literacy.
Was Jesus born on December 25? How did December 25 get chosen as the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus?
Was Jesus born on December 25?
How did December 25 get chosen as the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus?
Speculation as to the time of Jesus’ birth dates back to the 3rd century, when Hyppolytus (ca. 170-236) claimed that Jesus was born on December 25. The earliest mention of some sort of observance on that date is in the Philoclian Calendar, representing Roman practice, of the year 336. Later, John Chrysostom favored the same date of birth. Cyril of Jerusalem (348-386) had access to the original Roman birth census, which also documented that jesus was born on the 25th of December. The date eventually became the officially recognized date for Christmas in part because it coincided with the pagan festivals celebrating Saturnalia and the winter solstice. The church thereby offered people a Christian alternative to the pagan festivities and eventually reinterpreted many of their symbols and actions in ways acceptable to christian faith and practice.
December 25 has become more and more acceptable as the birth date of Jesus. However, some argue that the birth occurred in some other season, such as in the fall. Followers of this theory claim that the Judean winters were too cold for shepherds to be watching their flocks by night. History proves otherwise, however, and we have historical evidence that unblemished lambs for the Temple sacrifice were in fact kept in the fields near Bethlehem during the winter months.
The truth is we simply don’t know the exact date of our Savior’s birth. In fact, we don’t even know for sure the year in which He was born. Scholars believe it was somewhere between 6 B.C. and 4 B.C. One thing is clear: if God felt it was important for us to know the exact date of the Savior’s birth, He certainly would have told us in His Word. The Gospel of Luke gives very specific details about the event, even down to what the baby was wearing – “swaddling clothes”—and where he slept—“in a manger” (Luke 2:12). These details are important because they speak of His nature and character, meek and lowly. But the exact date of His birth has no significance whatsoever, which may be why God chose not to mention it.
The fact is that He was born, that He came into the world to atone for our sins, that He was resurrected to eternal life, and that He’s alive today. This is what we should celebrate, as we are told in the Old Testament in such passages as Zechariah 2:10: “’Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,’ declares the LORD.” Further, the angel that announced the birth to the shepherds brought “good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). Surely here is the cause for celebration every day, not just once a year.
Christian Monotheists what are the purposes of overseas mission and who fund the cost?
Dear christian Monotheists could you please tell me what are the purposes of overseas mission, Culture exchange or to obtained knowledge from overseas churches (some information Please)? Who is/are funding the costs of overseas mission? Thanks.
a lot of the missions i am aware of go to countries to help educate children, build schools, provide medical care, show them how to sterilize water for drinking, show them how to grow crops in drought conditions, and yes, teach them about Christianity.
they are funded by churches and other organizations which rely on private contributions.
Would Jesus feel more at home in a church catering to the homeless?
I saw somebody else had posted a question very like this and some hateful person managed to get it removed. But it is an interesting one to think about. I would think he would be at ease with the homeless, he would heal, feed, clothe and love them. He would wash their feet as a matter of respect and humility. These are all things a true christian should be willing to do. But as for being in a church, I doubt that jesus would feel at home in very many of them, perhaps none.
Yes that is a good question. I wonder why someone would be so Satan-inspired as to have it removed.
I tend to agree with you that Jesus would care for the homeless and not be interested in attending a formal church.
Why do so few agree with what He said, that a good example is the best sermon?
How much would you donate to charity if you won lotto?
I noticed that 4 lucky people won the first division prize of the $50million Oz Lotto draw last night ($13million each). If you won that much, how much would you donate to charity or to the betterment of others less fortunate?
If I were to win $13,000,000.. I think it would be safe to say I’d stick $500,000 in an account for my daughter ..so that she has it for her education and something towards a property of her own …
SO that would leave me with 12 1/2 million….I’d keep maybe $5,000,000 MAX… and the rest would be invested .. so that I could continously sponsor several charitable organisations ( this would include sponsoring several children from third world nations)..
I don’t need millions for myself….my family don’t need millions..
But I would love to have enough money at my access to be able to help others more often
What purpose would a Christian have to site a stat when most statistics are born using the scientific method?
Statistically speaking here, what reason would there be for the christian to "label" and use a "stat?" Wouldn’t that be contradictory to their beliefs about Science?
The same reason any superstitious person would, say, use a computer, or live in a house, or wear clothes.
People are willing to accept that the world works through natural laws, and reap the benefit of the study of those laws, until such a time as that method imposes on their preconceived notions.
Addendum: And even *then*, people are still more than happy to reap scientific benefits, even if they deny the validity of the method by which those benefits were produced.
I mean, you think Creationists don’t get flu shots?
What is an atheist harassing a Christian about religion and a Christian harassing an atheist about religion?
Are they both harassing or do you think the other is trying to help the other? Should the atheist leave the Christian alone and why? Should the christian leave the atheist alone and why? Why would each consider it harassment?
Yes yes and yes.
People should rightfully respect each other - in a perfect world, but alas we don’t live in a perfect world.
Too many nasty people in the world unfortunately.
