And what were the Gospels of Thomas & how do they complicate the understanding of the ‘REAL JESUS’?

It does not.
History is not subjective.
It consists of facts, events and corroborations.
History intends to do nothing to assert itself; it is merely a collection of facts from a variety of sources by a number of persons deemed responsible for the facts.
jesus is an historical person.

I’ve heard christian, married, women on occasion say that their husbands provide a spiritual covering for them. I’ve always wondered what exactly that means. Any thoughts or insights?

I have heard this as well and not sure what they mean, none have explained to my satisfaction…my husband is a good man but not a Godly man…

1 Corinthians 11: 3-5

[3] But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

[4] Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

{"who is the mans head? verse 3 said its Christ…the man must not cover his head(Christ) while praying or prophesying or he will dishonor Christ"…}

[5] But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

{"who is the woman’s head? verse 3 said its the man…the woman must cover her head(man)while praying or prophesying or she will dishonor man…}

{a man praying or prophesying covering Christ is trying to get to the Father without the Son…a woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered is putting her husband(head) before or trying to go through her head/husband to get to Christ…}

1 Corinthians 7:12-15
[12] But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
[13] And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
[14] For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
[15] But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

{ I think sanctified and covered are the same or close to the same…we can not give our husband or wife salvation…we can be a tool, for Christ to use in their life to draw them close or to show them the way, thus helping Christ bring them into the flock…women are the weaker of the sexes that is shown throughout the scripture and in our lives as well…men are stronger and more able to make decision not based on emotion, we women tined to be lead by emotion…there are times we need our husbands strength and there are times our husband needs our softness, see we balance each other, just as God intended…}
always nosnod

if you see it in a different light please let me know, I am always open to learning what my Lord has in store for me…

What is a good relief charity in Africa?

Posted by admin On December - 9 - 2009

I have a personal goal book, and one of my goals for this year is to give a gift to someone in Africa. Does anyone know of a good organization that does this kind of thing? Or where I can be matched up with someone who is in poverty so I can give them a gift? I did this kind of thing before but I don’t remember the names of any charities that do this. I want the gift to be direct and personal (in other words, I don’t want to just give money to a charity. Thank you for your help.

There is a great organization called invisible children it is all about getting peace back for the people in Uganda.The children there face many difficulties like many are orphans, some have AIDS, and their lack of education is horrible. some children even have to leave their homes in fear of being taken by Joseph Kony and make them join his rebel army made of mostly children or children who have grown up in the army. I know this is not a personal donation charity but i really like and support it. http://www.invisiblechildren.com/home.php

this organization lets you sponsor what they call a hope-child you send 35-40 dollars a month to help them get food, water, education, and for some HIV and AIDS counseling.

Hope this helped and i really applaud you for doing something meaningful and helpful with your money. ;)

What’s the difference between zakat and charity?

Posted by admin On December - 8 - 2009

I previously posted a question asking whether it was haram to give charity to non-muslims, and some answers said that charity can be given to non-muslims, but zakah can only be given to muslims. Ummm aren’t they the same thing? Zakah IS charity, isn’t it?

Similarities: Both zakat & charity are donations made to the unfortunate ones either by giving them food, money or clothes & so forth.

Differences: Zakat is a type of donation that we can only donate to unfortunate Muslims & no one else.
In other words, it is also known as a "religious charity".
Also, the zakat donor must be a Muslim in order to be eligible for giving zakat.
As for charity, it is a donation that we can donate to any unfortunate individual regardless of their race, language or religion & there is absolutely no prerequisites at all for a donor to be eligible for giving charity.

What are SPECIFIC differences, if any, between the THEOLOGY of the Southern Baptist and Conservative Baptist denominations?

Southern Baptists are joined together through the cooperative program. They support missionaries this way.

christianity was just a sect even after Jesus’ death. Why so? If someone like Jesus came today and performed miracles, naturally everyone in the world would believe him instantly. Then why at that time people still opposed him knowing that everything about opposing God and going to Hell is true?

Non sequitur: jesus did not perform miracles in order to attract followers.

you don’t HAVE to pray, go to church, ask to be forgiven every two seconds, read the bible or meet with other christians etc.

so what do you have to do that is compulsory to be live as a christian?

can you just become a christian and not do all those other things if you wanted?

nothing.

and yes I already know that they didnt live during the same period. But both can still contribute to what we know today as the historical jesus through their teachings and writings. but what exactly did they say?

They acknowledged Him, but denied His Deity.

They both love the Lord and accept jesus in their heart. However there is a difference between the two but what is the difference?

I been attending a baptist church but my whole family since the beginning of time was catholic but lately I like this new church I been going to. Thanks and God Bless.

Definitely!

Catholics believe in works (that you need to earn your way into heaven) and grace, but other christians believe that God’s grace allows you to go to heaven.
